Even after treating with anti-scratch treatment, solid wood is likely to develop scratches.

What is engineered wood?

This third type of wood consists of three layers, with the uppermost layer of wood. It is available in different thicknesses like 2mm, 3mm, 3.5mm and much more.

Homeowners who want to install quality flooring should opt for minimum 3.5mm to 4mm flooring.

Homeowners with budget constraint should go for 2mm thick flooring.

Solid wood V/S Engineered wood

Products made of solid wood are much more durable than the products made from any other material since it is only wood composed while engineered wood is usually covered with veneer or laminates

Products made from engineered wood are shown as “wood solids” or “wood solids with veneer” and are usually confused as solid wood by home owners, and the price difference causes confusion. Products made with solid wood are costlier than products made from engineered wood.

The significant advantage of using engineered wood is that it does not expand or contract like solid wood with a change in weather. Solid wood is highly sensitive to climate change.

People in Europe and India prefer furniture of engineered wood for house interior designs due to its low price and the wide range of designs.
